What is an MPV file?
An MPV file is an MPEG elementary stream video file that consists of raw, uncompressed video data. The video contents inside an MPV file comprise of integrated MPEG-2 compression specifications. MPV files do not contain any audio data. The MPV file format is also used as input to video processing applications as the MPEG elementary stream use the MPEG-2 encoding standards primarily. MPV files can be opened and played with software applications that support MPEG-2 video file formats. VideoLAN LVC media player software is one such software that can open and play MPV files.
MPV File Format
MPV files are saved to disc as plain binary files, following the MPEG file format structure. However, their internal file format is not available publicly for developer’s reference.
