What is an ASI file?
An ASI file is a variable file format used by the Alpha Five software that is used for developing Web applications. It stores variables used by the Web application. When you create a new developer project in Alpha Five, the ASI file is also created and saved along side the Alpha Five developer project.
ASI files can be opened with Alpha Software Alpha Anywhere.
ASI File Format
ASI files are saved in Alpha Five proprietary file format. They are read and wrote by the application as part of the developer project.
How ASI Files Are Created & Used
- When you start a new project in Alpha Five/Alpha Anywhere, the software generates an ASI file alongside other project files.
- The file is dynamically updated as variables and settings change during development.
- When the web application runs, the ASI file may be referenced to load stored variables.
How to open ASI files?
Alpha Software Alpha Anywhere (formerly Alpha Five) is the main program used to open and manage ASI files.
Can ASI Files Be Opened Manually?
- ASI files are not meant to be edited directly by users - they are typically managed by the Alpha Anywhere environment.
- Attempting to open them in a text editor may show binary or encoded data, making manual editing difficult.
Where ASI files are stored?
- ASI files are usually stored in the same directory as the Alpha Five/Alpha Anywhere project files.
- They often work alongside other Alpha Anywhere file types, such as:
- .ADB (Alpha Five Database)
- .ALB (Library files)
- .A5W (Web page files)
