What is a Keynote KEY file?
The KEY files are used in Apple Keynote and are mostly present in the macOS package structure. This type of file format is used as more popular MS office programs mostly used for the preparation of presentations and assignments.
These are specified for the Keynote application which is used for designing, presenting, and saving a presentation. There have been some updates of this application released by Apple in recent years.
While using this application the .key file can be sent through mail or message to other devices or for any other purpose. These can be opened in a Keynote application very quickly. You only have to open a new file, enter all of the information required for a presentation and then save it for later use.
Brief History of Apply Keynote File Format
It was first launched in 2003 by Apple and was known as Keynote 1.0. It was made compatible with Microsoft PowerPoint. In 2005, Apple added some tools for word processing and layout design of pages. After that Apple released iWork ‘06 along with some versions of keynote 3.0 and pages 2.0. These versions included some updates.
Later on, in the fall of 2007, Keynote 4.0 was released by Apple along with the Numbers application which was specified for spreadsheets, Apple added various tools into this program and made it complete and free for any iOS device.
These updates continued to 2021 and there are various and amazing tools and functionalities that have been added to every version of the application.
Keynote KEY File Format Specifications
This KEY type of file can contain Text, Images, Tables, Notes, Media, files, and XML-related data. In iOS devices, an account named iCloud is used. When these types of files are saved to Cloud these are named KEY-TEF.
KEY files can be opened on macOS or any other iOS device. It can also be converted into other file formats like PDF, HTML, etc. These file types consist of compatibility with Apple Keynote remote applications which are only available in iOS devices.
Some specific tools can be used during a presentation using these file formats or on an Apple device like the user can share his screen to the presenter screen and can still look at the notes on his desktop.
