What is an ACCDW file?
A file wiht .accdw extension is a link file created with Microsoft Access and contains information about the link to download an Access database file i.e. ACCDB from SharePoint server. This lets the users to share database files that are hosted remotely. Opening the ACCDW file downloads the linked ACCDB file as a local copy on the user’s computer. The downloaded file is saved to the default download location and can be accessed by navigating to it. Usually, these files are downloaded and stored with the name “SiteServer.accdb” that refers to the client databases.

The ACCDW file is an XML file that provide a link to the SharePoint site where the Access Services are hosted. It is a shortcut only and requires internet connection to run them. In case of online, the SharePoint is cached locally in order to provide the option to take it offline later.
How to open ACCDW file?
To open ACCDW file, Microsoft Access (2010 or newer) must be installed on your computer. Simply double-click the ACCDW file. If Access is installed and configured, it will use the link within the file to connect to the remote database. Since ACCDW files connect to web-hosted databases, ensure you have a stable internet connection.
Open Microsoft Access. Go to File > Open, and select the ACCDW file. Access will establish the connection to the linked database.
